Reverse description The featured Armenian letter Կ (Ko) is rendered in bold relief at the centre-left of the reverse field, while an ornate illuminated manuscript-style depiction of the same letter, framed within a decorative rectangular panel with interlaced Celtic-Armenian knotwork, is shown to its right. The complete Armenian alphabet of 38 letters encircles the central motif in a continuous legend running around the periphery of the coin, referencing the script created by Saint Mesrop Mashtots in 405 AD. The overall design evokes the rich tradition of Armenian manuscript illumination and calligraphy.
