| Obverse description | The left half of a bisected 1000 Drachmai note (P-57), retaining the central oval portrait vignette of a distinguished male figure in 19th-century dress, set within an elaborate guilloche rosette. The denomination numeral '1000' appears in large intaglio figures below the portrait, with a secondary allegorical vignette of maritime commerce partially visible at right. Inscriptions in Greek include the bank title 'ΕΘΝΙΚΗ ΤΡΑΠΕΖΑ' along the upper margin, with two manuscript signatures and a red serial number prefix 'ΣΕ023' overprinted above. |
