| Reverse description | A finely detailed, sinuous Chinese dragon rendered in high relief occupies the central field, its scaled body coiling dynamically across the face of the coin. The dragon faces right, mouth open, pursuing a flaming pearl depicted in the lower right of the field. To the right, two large Chinese characters '戊辰' — denoting the cyclical year of the Earth Dragon in the traditional Chinese sexagenary calendar — are boldly rendered in the field. The denomination '500 DOLLARS' arches along the upper legend within a border of raised beads, while the inscription 'HALF OUNCE FINE GOLD' appears in the lower exergue, also within the beaded border. |
