| Additional information |
Saint Lucia issued this coin to mark Queen Elizabeth II's visit to the Eastern Caribbean in 1985, part of a broader royal tour that included several Windward and Leeward Islands. Such visits carried real political weight in the region during the 1980s, as several former British territories were navigating independence while retaining Commonwealth ties — Saint Lucia had only become independent in 1979.
KM#19 was produced in very limited numbers, consistent with the commemorative gold issues of small Caribbean states during this period, which were targeted almost entirely at the collector market rather than circulation.
