Additional information

Issued to mark the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's 1517 posting of the Ninety-Five Theses, this coin is one of dozens of commemorative pieces released by various mints in 2017 to coincide with the Reformation quincentenary. Niue, a self-governing island nation in the South Pacific in free association with New Zealand, has no direct connection to the Reformation whatsoever — its role here is purely as a licensing authority, a common arrangement that grants Pacific microstates a revenue stream from bullion and collector coin programs.

At five troy ounces of .9999 fine gold, production runs for issues at this weight and price point are typically very small.
