Reverse description A finely detailed, high-relief depiction of a rat perched alertly among lychee branches laden with fruit, its body turned upward in a naturalistic pose, engraved by Ing Ing Jong. In the lower central field, the Chinese character 鼠 (Rat) is prominently displayed within a circular mirror-polished recess, accompanied by the English legend YEAR OF THE RAT arranged vertically to the right. The specification inscription 5 oz .9999 Au appears along the lower field, with the engraver's initials BK also present. The composition balances traditional East Asian artistic motifs with the Perth Mint's characteristic precision craftsmanship.
