| Obverse description | The left portion of the obverse is dominated by an intaglio vignette of the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong, rendered in fine line engraving against a multicolour guilloche underprint in shades of red and brown. To the upper left, a large blue numeral '500' is printed in bold letterpress, while an optically variable device (OVD) patch in the upper right corner shifts between green and gold tones. Issuer inscriptions in both Chinese and English appear across the centre-right field, accompanied by the denomination in Chinese characters and Roman script, the promise-to-pay clause, and the Chief Executive's facsimile signature with the date of issue at lower centre. |
