| Additional information |
Bosnia and Herzegovina issued this coin in 1996 while still in the immediate aftermath of the Siege of Sarajevo, which had ended only months earlier in February of that year with the Dayton Agreement. The country was simultaneously rebuilding civil infrastructure and, remarkably, fielding athletes at the Atlanta Summer Games — its first Olympic participation as an independent nation.
KM#55 is one of several Olympic-themed issues from this series, struck for the collector market rather than circulation.
