The 1963 dinar series, of which this is the highest denomination, was issued following the currency reform of that year — specifically the redenomination that replaced the post-war dinar at a ratio of 100:1. The new notes had to project stability at a moment when Yugoslav monetary credibility was still fragile after years of inflation. ZIN had been producing Yugoslav currency since the interwar period, and by 1963 its engravers were competent by any European standard; Krnjajić's line work on this series is noticeably cleaner than the earlier 1955 issues.

P#74 is among the shorter-lived notes in the series — the 1968 reissue superseded it within five years.
