| Obverse description | At left, a vignette portrait of the writer and poet Mário de Andrade (1893–1945), rendered in intaglio and drawn from his well-known self-photograph entitled 'Sombra Minha' (My Shadow). The final verse of his celebrated poem 'Eu sou trezentos...' appears as an inscription alongside the portrait. A circular overprint stamp reading '500 Cruzeiros Reais' is applied over the underlying P#236 denomination of 500,000 Cruzeiros. |
