Obverse description Central device consists of the arms of Nicaragua — a equilateral triangle enclosing five volcanoes rising from the sea beneath a radiant rising sun, enclosed within the triangle by horizontal line shading at its base. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circular legend REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA arcing above and AMERICA CENTRAL below. In the lower field, within the beaded border, the date 1975 appears prominently, followed by the fineness inscription 4·86 GR· ORO FINO / LEY 900 indicating the gold content and standard.
