The 1979 series was printed before the Sandinista victory in July of that year, meaning Thomas De La Rue completed this work for the Somoza-era Banco Central — yet the notes ended up circulating under the revolutionary government that followed. Nicaragua didn't have the luxury of immediately replacing its currency stock, so Sandinista-period transactions were conducted on paper ordered and produced by the regime they had just overthrown.

P#138 is among the last issues tied to that transitional overlap, before the FSLN began asserting control over currency design in the early 1980s.
