The legend BATALLA DE MATASIETE arcs along the upper periphery, bisected at its apex by a five-pointed star. The commemorative dates 1817 and 1992, marking the 175th anniversary of the Battle of Matasiete, are incused in raised numerals at the lower left and right flanking the monument's base.
