Obverse description Central field displays the full Panamanian national coat of arms, featuring a quartered shield with crossed swords and rifle in the upper left, crossed tools in the upper right, the Isthmus of Panama with ships on both coasts in the center, and a cornucopia with winged wheel in the lower quarters. A harpy eagle with outstretched wings surmounts the shield, clutching a banner inscribed PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO, flanked by nine five-pointed stars arranged in an arc above. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 500 BALBOAS appears prominently in the lower legend, with the fineness inscription 500/1000 ORO FINO displayed in the lower field beneath the shield.
