Obverse description The national coat of arms of Rwanda is rendered in high relief at centre against a mirror-polished field, depicting a knotted rope encircling a shield charged with a sun, sorghum plant, coffee branch, and a traditional hut, all supported by two crossed spears. A ribbon scroll below the shield bears the national motto. The legend BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination AMAFARANGA 500 MAGANA ATANU is inscribed along the lower border. The silver fineness AG 999 appears to the left and the date 2013 to the right of the central device.
