| Additional information |
Trial pieces for Afghan coinage from this period are poorly documented, a direct consequence of the civil war that effectively dismantled the Da Afghanistan Bank's administrative infrastructure through the mid-1990s. Whether this reverse trial reached the approval stage or was abandoned when the Taliban captured Kabul in September 1996 is not recorded in any known mint correspondence.
The issuing authority's relationship with the Austrian Mint, which handled much Afghan commemorative production during this decade, makes Vienna the most probable origin for this striking.
