Obverse description Portrait of Chiang Kai-shek in uniform at right, rendered in intaglio against a red-brown guilloche ground. The large Chinese denomination characters 伍拾萬圓 occupy the central field, flanked by ornate scroll borders. Serial number appears twice in the upper portion, with issuer and currency inscriptions in Chinese characters at top and in the side margins.

Reverse description Central vignette of the Central Bank of China headquarters building in Nanking, rendered in fine line engraving with a flag atop the structure and steps leading to the entrance. The denomination 500000 appears in large numerals at each corner within guilloche panels. Two signature lines for General Manager and Governor are printed below the vignette, with the bank title and denomination in English along the upper and lower borders.
