| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in dark green on a fine guilloche underprint, with the large numeral denomination '500 000 MARK' in bold Gothic type occupying the left panel, separated from the text field by a vertical ornamental border of stylised foliage. The right panel carries the issuing authority text in Gothic script, including the date 'Freiburg i. Br., den 8. August 1923' and the authorisation line 'Namens des Stadtrats / der Oberbürgermeister' above a manuscript signature. Two circular embossed dry stamps appear in the lower right area, and a printed anti-counterfeiting warning in small Gothic type fills the lower left panel. |

B. dem Einlieferer dieses Geldscheines, welcher seine Gültigkeit nach Maßgabe der hierüber zu erlassenden besonderen Bestimmungen verliert. Freiburg i. Br., den 8. August 1923 Namens des Stadtrats der Oberbürgermeister Wer Papiergeld nachmacht oder verfälscht, oder nachgemachtes oder verfälschtes sich verschafft und in Verkehr bringt, wird mit Zuchthaus nicht unter 2 Jahren bestraft. |
