| Obverse description | Salmon-orange letterpress Notgeld note on an elaborate guilloche underprint of repeating floral rosettes and vertical pale bands bearing stacked numerals '5' and circular ornaments. The denomination in large bold Fraktur script occupies the upper half, with the payment obligation text in smaller Fraktur below, and the date 'Essen, am 3. Aug. 1923' with the numeral '500 000' at the foot flanked by ornamental devices and the facsimile signature of the Oberbürgermeister.
