| Obverse description | The note is executed entirely in letterpress using blackletter (Fraktur) typeface on white paper, enclosed within an ornate border of repeated foliate and cross motifs. The denomination '500,000 Mark' is set in large bold Gothic characters at centre, with the municipal coat of arms of Arnswalde — a crenellated tower above a spread eagle — positioned at lower centre. A validity clause appears to the lower right, and the issuing authority 'Der Magistrat' with two facsimile signatories is printed to the lower left, beneath the date '10. August 1923'. |

Arnswalde — now Choszczno in northwestern Poland — was one of hundreds of German municipalities that turned to local printers during the hyperinflation of 1923 when Reichsbank supply simply could not keep pace with the collapsing currency. This note, signed by Gerischer and Reich as municipal officials, was produced by Wendt's local print shop rather than any specialized security printer. At denominations like 500,000 Mark, the ink was barely dry before the purchasing power was gone.
