| Reverse description | The reverse is printed in the same dark brown on green-tinted paper and is dominated by a large central lithographic vignette of a jovial vintner in a beret, seated amid abundant grapevines and clusters, raising a wine glass in a celebratory gesture — a characterful allusion to Rheingau winemaking tradition. The bold denomination '500 000' and 'Mark.' are placed at upper left and upper right respectively, flanking the vignette. Two stanzas of rhyming German verse, one at lower left and one at lower right, complete the design, with the printer's imprint 'Lith. Fischer & Metz, Rüdesheim a Rh.' at lower right. |
