| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Chad occupies the central field, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished background. The shield, bearing a chevron pattern, is supported by a rampant goat to the dexter and a rampant lion to the sinister, with a radiant sun rising above the shield. The circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD' arcs along the upper periphery, with the date '2023' to the right, while the denomination '500000 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed along the lower border. The motto ribbon below the supporters reads 'UNITE TRAVAIL PROGRES'. |

Chad's entry into the bullion coin market arrived late — the country has no meaningful history of precious metal coin issuance — and this piece is frankly a product of the secondary licensing arrangements that allow the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale to authorize issues primarily designed for European collector markets. The BEAC franc zone has issued commemorative gold sporadically since the 1970s, almost none of it intended for domestic circulation.
The bull and bear pairing is a fixture of European and Asian investor-targeted bullion programs, borrowed wholesale from financial market iconography.
