| Obverse description | A faithful high-relief reproduction of a medieval Hungarian denar of King Andrew I occupies the central field, rendered as a coin-within-a-coin motif set against a polished proof background divided by a horizontal band. The ancient denar displays concentric rope-bordered circles enclosing a radiate central design with pellets, surrounded by a fragmentary Latin legend in archaic lettering. The upper field bears the curved inscription MAGYARORSZÁG, while the mint mark BP. and date 2023 appear in the lower band to the left and right respectively. The denomination 500000 FORINT is inscribed in large characters at the bottom of the field. |

| Additional information |
András I — known in Western sources as Andrew I — secured his throne in 1046 partly through a pagan uprising against the Christianization policies of his predecessors, then spent much of his reign defending Hungary against Holy Roman Emperor Henry III, who launched three separate invasion campaigns attempting to install a rival claimant. The 1058 Peace of Regensburg finally ended that pressure. Andrew died in 1060 during a succession conflict with his own brother Béla, possibly from injuries sustained at the Battle of Mogyoród's precursor skirmishes — the sources are ambiguous.
This is part of Hungary's ongoing bullion and commemorative gold program honoring medieval rulers, struck in .999 fine gold at one troy ounce.
