| Obverse description | The note is printed in green and dark violet on plain paper, with a guilloche-patterned border along the top and right edges and a decorative diamond-motif band on the far right. A vertical coupon strip on the left, outlined in red and printed in green and red, bears repeated denomination values and issuer text in small type. The denomination 'Fünfhundert Millionen Mark' is rendered in large blackletter script across the upper right field over a green guilloche underprint, below which the payment promise, place, date of 14 September 1923, and the facsimile signature of Oberbürgermeister Dr. Johansen appear in italic letterpress; a faint embossed city seal is visible to the right of the main text. |

A large architectural vignette at centre-left presents the Crefeld Rathaus as viewed from the Westwall, rendered in fine letterpress with detailed stonework and towers, captioned 'Rathaus v. Westwall gesehen' above. The denomination '500 Millionen' appears in bold blackletter at upper centre, repeated three times in oval cartouches along the right margin alongside the series designation 'Reihe W' and a red serial number, while 'Stadt Crefeld' is set in large bold capitals across the lower margin. |
