| Obverse description | Notgeld issued in violet-purple letterpress on white paper, with a decorative guilloche border of oval and dot motifs enclosing the central text panel. The large denomination numeral '500 Millionen Mark' is set in bold Gothic blackletter type at centre, above which the issuing authority 'Notgeld der Stadt Sterkrade' appears in italic script. Below the denomination, a five-line redemption clause states validity terms and the date 'Sterkrade (Rhld.), den 20.
