| Reverse description | The reverse presents a bold, expressive portrait bust of the composer Fryderyk Chopin facing right, rendered in high sculptural relief with strong chiaroscuro effect emphasising the subject's distinctive facial features and flowing hair. The effigy occupies most of the coin's field, with the collar and lapel of period dress visible at the truncation. The inscription 'FRYDERYK CHOPIN' is engraved in small Latin letters along the right inner periphery, running vertically beside the portrait. The deeply sculpted artistic style is characteristic of the work of engraver Anna Jarnuszkiewicz. As a trial strike without the 'PRÓBA' (pattern) designation, the reverse field is otherwise plain. |
