Obverse description The Polish national arms, a crowned White Eagle with wings displayed and talons extended, occupies the central field. The date 1979 is divided by the eagle's legs in the lower field, flanked by the mint mark 'MW' below the eagle's breast. The denomination '50' in large numerals appears at the base, with the currency abbreviation 'ZŁ' on either side. The circular legend 'POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA' (Polish People's Republic) runs along the upper rim in Latin characters.
