Obverse description Broad round flan with a central square perforation, flanked on the left by the two-character inscription 五銖 (Wu Zhu, meaning '5 Zhu') cast in relief in standard Chinese script. The characters are arranged vertically, reading from top to bottom. The coin features two distinctive pillar-like strokes flanking the characters, a hallmark of the so-called 'Two Pillar' type. Two small raised dots appear in the field — one above and one or two below the square hole — serving as mint or workshop marks. The rim is slightly raised and the overall casting is consistent with Southern Dynasties foundry practice.
