| Reverse description | The reverse features two principal design elements arranged in the upper and lower portions of the field. In the upper register, a finely detailed relief scene depicts an ancient Chinese horse-drawn chariot at left, accompanied by a procession of riders on horseback, evoking the Han dynasty period. In the lower register, the central focus is a large rectangular divination board (shi) shown in perspective, upon which rests a lodestone spoon — the earliest known form of magnetic compass — its handle pointing toward the south. The vertical inscription 指南针 (compass) appears at the left, with the dating legend 公元前(BC) 四世纪 (4th century BC) below it. The denomination 50元 is inscribed in the lower exergue. |
