Comments

The Bank of Chinan was a regional puppet institution established under Japanese occupation in Shandong province, and notes from this bank circulated in an economy deliberately engineered to drain real resources — silver, commodities, goods — from occupied Chinese territory. The 50 Yuan denomination sits at the upper end of this bank's wartime issues, large enough that most examples encountered genuine use rather than sitting idle.

The S3070 series carries multiple signature varieties, and the "E" suffix here denotes a specific signing combination that collectors have found considerably harder to source than the earlier variants in the same run.
