Obverse description The Taiwan Grand Shrine vignette appears at right, framed within the note's layout. The bank name in Chinese characters runs along the top and left margins, with the denomination rendered in Arabic numerals and Chinese characters at all four corners and at center. An official seal is positioned at lower left beneath the bank name inscription.

(Translation: Bank of Taiwan note Fifty Bank of Taiwan Fifty Yen In exchange for this note, a corresponding amount in yen shall be paid)
Reverse description The bank name in English runs along the top margin. A central vignette presents the Kaohsiung lighthouse. The denomination is expressed in Arabic numerals and Chinese characters at all four corners and at the left and right sides of the note, with the promise-to-pay legend in English running across the lower register.
