| Reverse description | A stylised frontal elevation of the original Central Bank of Vanuatu building occupies the central field, rendered in low relief with architectural detail including colonnaded windows and a structured facade. The arc legend 'CENTRAL BANK BLONG VANUATU' appears along the upper periphery. Below the building design, the dates '1981 - 1989' denote the period of occupancy, with the denomination 'VATU 50' inscribed at the base. |

| Additional information |
Issued to mark the completion of the Reserve Bank of Vanuatu's new headquarters in Port Vila, this piece belongs to a broader commemorative program the bank used to establish institutional prestige following independence in 1980. Vanuatu's monetary history is unusually compressed — the vatu only replaced the New Hebrides franc in 1982, meaning the central bank was still a young institution by 2009.
