Additional information

Mongolia's Year of the Dragon issues from 2000 were part of a longer-running lunar calendar series aimed squarely at the collector market, with distribution handled almost entirely through international coin dealers rather than domestic circulation channels. Copper-nickel at this weight was a deliberate budget alternative to the silver strikes produced simultaneously for the same design — same dies, different metal, sharply lower price point.
