Obverse lettering BANK OF ABYSSINIA የኢትዮጵያ፡ባንክ። CINQUANTE THALERS አምሳ፡ብር። PAYABLES À ADIS-ABABA AU PORTEUR አዲስ፡አበባ፡ላይ፡ለሚጠይቁ፡ይሰጣል።

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large central guilloche rosette of elaborate interlaced design, printed in brown and olive tones, set within a radiating sunburst pattern that extends across the full width of the note. The denomination numeral "50" is printed in bold at the centre of the guilloche medallion, flanked by symmetrical floral rosette ornaments in each lower corner. Ge'ez (Amharic) script legends are arranged in a curved banner above the central vignette, with the Ethiopic numeral ፶ repeated in the lower left and right corners, and the printer's imprint "Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd Engravers, London" along the lower margin.
