| Reverse description | The Coat of Arms of the Republic of Georgia (1993–2004), featuring the Bolnisi cross rendered as a stylized seven-armed pinwheel motif at center, occupies the inner field within a raised circular border. The date '1993' is divided across the left and right inner fields flanking the central emblem. The peripheral legend reads 'საქართველოს რესპუბლიკა' in Georgian Mkhedruli script along the upper arc, and 'REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA' in Latin characters along the lower arc, each separated by ornamental triple-dot devices. |

| Additional information |
Georgia's first post-Soviet coinage was struck in 1993 under severe logistical constraints — the new republic lacked domestic minting capacity and contracted production abroad while the economy was in freefall. That vacuum invited immediate counterfeiting, and lead-core imitations of the 50 tetri appeared almost concurrently with the genuine issue. The originals themselves were aluminium, making a lead substitute detectable by weight alone, which suggests these circulated among a population with little reason or means to check.
