To his right, a spear and a stringed instrument (dombra) rise vertically, symbolic of his dual roles as fighter and poet. The Cyrillic inscription МАХАМБЕТ arches across the lower central field, with the numeral 200 beneath it denoting the bicentenary of his birth.
