Issued to mark the December 2022 inauguration of the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Line 6 — Bangladesh's first metro rail system — this is a commemorative note rather than a general circulation issue, printed domestically by the Security Printing Corporation in Gazipur. The MRT Line 6 project, years behind its original schedule due to land acquisition delays and the disruptions of the COVID-19 period, finally opened its Uttara-to-Agargaon segment on 28 December 2022, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina performing the inaugural run.
