Obverse description The Ugandan coat of arms, set against an outline map of Uganda, occupies the left portion of the note, with the national motto FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY on the scroll below. An elaborate multicolour guilloche rosette at centre incorporates the numeral 50 as an underprint, flanked by a small vignette at lower right. The issuer's name and denomination in both English and Swahili appear at the top, with signatures of the Governor and Secretary at the base.

Reverse description A detailed aerial-perspective vignette of the Nalubaale (Owen Falls) hydroelectric dam and power station occupies the centre of the note, rendered in fine intaglio line work. Guilloche rosettes bearing the numeral 50 appear in the upper corners, and two rampant kob antelope flank the lower denomination panel. The issuer's name is printed at the top, with the denomination in English and Swahili within a decorative cartouche at the base.
