Obverse description Central dodecagonal (twelve-sided) raised panel occupies the field, flanked by a stylized phoenix at each side and framed by karakusa (arabesque vine) sprigs, with a chrysanthemum crest positioned at the top of the design. The vertical denomination and the character for 'sample' (見本) are inscribed within the panel area. A fine milled border of beading encircles the entire obverse design. The paulownia crest motif appears at the base, integrating imperial symbolism consistent with Shōwa-era trial coinage.
