Obverse description Central field features the numeral '50' within a beaded inner circle, flanked by two small dots at either side. The denomination in kanji characters (五十錢) appears to the left of a symmetrical cherry blossom wreath that frames the central device. A chrysanthemum mon, the imperial seal of Japan, is positioned at the apex of the wreath. The overall design is restrained and emblematic, reflecting the austerity of the immediate postwar period.
