| Obverse description | The denomination '50 SCHILLING' is prominently displayed in the centre of the field, surrounded by a radiating arrangement of nine heraldic shields representing the nine Austrian federal states (Bundesländer). The topmost shield bears the Austrian federal eagle. The circular legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' runs along the periphery, interrupted by decorative dot stops.
