Pakistan's 50th independence anniversary in 1997 generated a cluster of pattern strikes in multiple compositions as the State Bank and mint authorities evaluated options for a commemorative issue. Bronze was ultimately rejected in favor of other alloys, leaving these patterns as decision-point artifacts rather than approved currency. The surviving population is small and largely traceable to a handful of known specimen sets distributed to officials.
