| Obverse description | The obverse presents a vivid wildlife vignette: at right, a red-faced malkoha (Phaenicophaeus pyrrhocephalus) perches atop a Makulu gaha tree (Hydnocarpus venenata), while at left a rare Ceylon Forester butterfly (Lethe dynaste) is set against a lake at sunset. Denomination and bank name are rendered in Sinhala, Tamil, and English, with the date 1979–03–26 and two manuscript signatures below the central design. Guilloche underprint and fine-line security patterns frame the composition. |
