| Obverse description | Central sunburst vignette radiates from the middle of the note, framed by elaborate guilloche scrollwork and foliate ornamental borders. The Terek Soviet Republic was a short-lived Bolshevik entity carved out of the North Caucasus in early 1918, dissolved by 1920 as White and mountaineer forces overran the region. Local currency was a practical necessity — central Soviet supply lines were cut, and Vladikavkaz, the administrative seat, could not rely on Moscow-issued notes reaching the area in any quantity.
P#S534 falls within a group of provisional emissions that are genuinely scarce today, partly because the republic's collapse was rapid and chaotic. Many notes were destroyed or lost during the fighting rather than surviving into peacetime hoards.
