| Obverse description | At centre, the double-headed imperial eagle after the design of artist I. Bilibin, rendered in high relief with detailed plumage and spread wings. The circular legend along the upper rim reads «50 РУБЛЕЙ 1997 г.» (50 ROUBLES 1997), while the lower rim bears the legend «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA). Below the eagle, incuse marks indicate the metal designation, fineness (Au 999), fine metal content (7.78 g), and the Moscow Mint monogram (ММД). The overall composition is characteristic of the Russian Federation's official bullion and commemorative coinage of the 1990s. |

In the background, the constellation Ursa Major (Great Bear) is rendered as a stylized star pattern, creating a thematic link between the animal and the celestial motif. The circular legend along the upper rim reads «СОХРАНИМ НАШ МИР» (PROTECT OUR WORLD), forming part of the Bank of Russia's ongoing wildlife conservation commemorative series.
