Obverse description At centre, the official emblem of the Bank of Russia depicting a double-headed eagle with wings lowered, enclosed within a beaded circle. The semicircular legend БАНК РОССИИ (Bank of Russia) appears below the eagle within the inner circle. Along the upper rim runs the denomination inscription ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ (Fifty Roubles), while the date 2003 is positioned at the lower rim. To the left of the eagle, the metal designation and fineness Au 900 are inscribed; to the right, the fine metal content 7.78 g and the Moscow Mint monogram ММД appear.
