Belarus launched an extensive wildlife conservation series in the early 2000s, with individual issues tied directly to specific protected territories rather than generic national themes. The Narochansky National Park, established in 1999 around Lake Narach — the largest lake in Belarus — was a deliberate choice for this series, the park having been created partly in response to Soviet-era ecological damage to the watershed.
The .900 fineness places this outside standard modern bullion practice, a conscious nod to pre-Soviet gold coinage traditions.
