Additional information

The T-70 was the Soviet Union's most-produced light tank of the Second World War, with over 8,000 built between 1942 and 1943, yet it was already obsolescent by the time it reached the front. Designed to replace the disastrous T-60, it remained in service largely because the factories building it could not be retooled quickly enough for heavier armor without halting production entirely — a pragmatic compromise that cost many crews their lives against German anti-tank guns.
