Obverse description At center, the State Emblem of the Bank of Russia — the double-headed eagle after the design of Ivan Bilibin — is displayed within a beaded circle. A semicircular legend reading «БАНК РОССИИ» (Bank of Russia) curves beneath the eagle. Along the outer rim, the denomination «ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ» (Fifty Roubles) appears at the top and the date «1999» at the bottom. To the left of the eagle, the metal designation and fineness (Au 900) are inscribed; to the right, the fine metal content (7.78 g) and the Moscow Mint monogram (ММД) are noted.
