Obverse description Olive-green intaglio print over a multicolour guilloche underprint. A formal portrait of Reza Shah in full military dress with high peaked cap is positioned at left, facing directly forward. The Chehel Sotoun palace vignette occupies the central field, enclosed within intricate lathe-work borders.
Obverse lettering بانک ملی ایران پنجاه ریال
(Translation: Bank Melli Iran Fifty Rials)
Reverse description Olive-green intaglio print on a plain ground. The Imperial Iranian coat of arms — a lion passant holding a sword before a rising sun, surmounted by the Pahlavi crown — is set within a circular guilloche medallion at centre, flanked by denomination numerals '50' at each corner; Persian denomination text in cursive script appears to either side. The printer's imprint 'AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY' runs along the lower margin, with the date rendered in Persian numerals at right.
